-----ECCLESIOLOGY TOWARD A HEALTHY CHURCH

Instructors: Dr. Augustine Suh (PhD, Systematic Theology) and Pastor Juan Seo (PhD cand., Practical Theology, New York UBF Pastor)

This course explores the foundational role of the church within God's cosmic plan. Far from being a mere human assembly, the church is understood as God's chosen people, the very body of Christ, and the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. As a messianic community, it serves as a powerful demonstration and testament to the coming kingdom of God. Our primary aim in this course is to explore the biblical basis of the church and facilitate the development of healthy church communities. To achieve this, we will examine the biblical foundations, coupled with discussions on historical and contemporary perspectives. A particular focus will be placed on reviewing and articulating the ecclesiology of UBF (University Bible Fellowship). Furthermore, we will identify and explore key characteristics of a healthy church, along with their practical applications. This course will equip participating leaders to cultivate a healthy church community by fostering a strong understanding of the church, particularly the UBF church ministry, in their role as community builders.

Meeting Schedule:
- Seven sessions every other Monday, 6:30 PM Central Time/USA
- First Meeting: September 15, 2025, 6:30 PM

-----THE FAREWELL DISCOURSE
Jesus’ Last Words to His Disciples, John 13–17

Instructor: Pastor Mark Vucekovich (Chicago UBF Senior Pastor)

These chapters in John are unique in the Bible. In them, Jesus prepares his disciples for what is about to happen to him, and especially for life in this world without his human presence. He begins with washing their feet and ends with praying for them. These words show us what our Lord Jesus, the original disciple-maker, considers essential for discipleship in any time and place. His focus and his wisdom are far superior to anyone else’s.
Based on these chapters, we will study eleven lessons on discipleship. In these eleven lessons, we aim to learn how to follow our Lord Jesus personally and how to practically help others do the same.

Meeting Schedule:
- Eleven weekly sessions, Tuesday evenings at 7:30 PM Central Time/USA, open to everyone interested.
- First Class: Tuesday, September 9, at 7:30 PM (Central Time/USA)
