Emerging Leaders Cohort
Go and make disciples!” (Mahew 28:19)
“To be conformed to the image of Christ” (Romans 8:29)
“Entrust to reliable people” (2 Timothy 2:2)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Emerging Leaders Cohort program (two and a half years) was developed to provide
education and discipleship opportunities for key emerging leaders of UBF chapters in
North America and around the world. It provides a platform where key leaders meet with
senior staff and national leaders to build up relationships, learn and grow in God’s word,
and embrace God’s vision for the future of UBF. ELC is a program that provides support
and enhancement for the disciple-raising ministries of the UBF chapters.
PRINCIPLES OF DISCIPLESHIP
The Cohort emphasizes fundamental aspects of Christian life and discipleship: Triune,
relational, and holistic.
1) Triune: To grow and live out the grace of participating in the kingdom of the triune
God: God-glorifying, Christ-centered, and Spirit-filled
2) Relational: To develop the relational aspects of Christian life with God, within the
church, and in the world
3) Holistic: To develop a person’s whole life and ministry as we perceive the need for a
broader understanding of salvation and God’s mission
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- To equip emerging ministry leaders to be effective disciples and disciple-makers,
especially as campus ministers
- Personal spiritual growth as disciples: biblical and doctrinal foundation, personal
relationship with God
- Christian leadership: developing Christlike disciple-makers through healthy
Christian practices
- Pastoral care: fostering compassion and wisdom to shepherd those in need
TARGET GROUP

- Disciples with a solid Bible study history and the desire to serve Christ’s mission,
especially campus ministry

APPLICATION
Each cohort consists of 5-8 members. The program committee makes announcements
for recruiting a new team each year. During the application period, applicants for ELC
are to submit the online ELC application form, life testimony (3-5 pages), and a
recommendation letter from their chapter directors. Usually, the application deadline is
October 31 each year.
After the student submits the application and supporting documents, the ELC committee
reviews the documents and confirms the completion of each applicant’s file. The
application process involves an interview with the program committee.
Admitted applicants will receive cohort orientation information, and all applicants will be
notified of their admission status by email.
