Communicating the Gospel in the Context of 3D Cultures
God poured out his Holy Spirit upon the UBF online course, “Communicating the Gospel in the Context of 3D Cultures,” (facilitated by Dr. Sarah Ahn, Liz Hembekides of Triton UBF, and M. Luke Hong of Montreal UBF) and abundantly blessed it with his presence and grace. This course was designed to enhance the gospel and cultural understanding of how the gospel speaks to all cultures. There are three types of cultures: guilt/innocence culture, honor/shame culture, and fear/power culture. The gospel is like a multifaceted diamond, and God wants all people in all cultures to experience his complete salvific power. The gospel has a transformative power to heal us of any kind of traumas and save us from any kind of shame and sins. However, we are often heavily influenced by one aspect of salvation in one aspect of cultural worldview or mindset. Throughout the six sessions for 3 months from September 16th to December 2nd, all attendants could explore the 3D nature of the gospel in the context of 3D cultures, deepening their cultural and gospel understanding (guilt, shame, and fear) in various perspectives, and broadening their worldviews in communicating Christ cross-culturally. The Holy Spirit worked mightily in and among attendants. We could share our vulnerable stories in this safe space and apply the multifaceted power of the gospel to our own personal, cultural, and ministry contexts. We reclaimed our own identities as God’s beloved and experienced God’s grace that transforms shame into glory, genuinely praying for one another and God’s Kingdom. Thank God for his gracious work through the power of the gospel!
We praise God for granting us a living hope in the kingdom through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Because of his great mercy, we want to continue to provide training programs and relevant courses to empower disciples for Kingdom impact, equipping lay ministers, professionals, and full-time shepherds.
