Christian History
The Christian History course is designed to provide gospel workers with a working knowledge of the major events, issues, and people of church history and to make use of the rich resources of Church history in our practice of ministry. This course is a survey of Christian history from the end of the New Testament period up to the present day based on Turning Points: Decisive Moments in the History of Christianity (3rd edition) by Mark Noll. His book is informative, inspiring, and very helpful in introducing students to the broad sweep of historical events. The course covers major events, issues, people, and ideas that shaped the life and doctrine of the Christian church.
It will provide an examination of Christian history from an evangelical perspective. As we study the course, we will be able to understand the big picture of events that are most relevant to the major phases of Christian history, explain how Christianity developed into a rich diversity including different denominations and theological traditions, and to evaluate the positive and negative implications of various events in church history.
